Encroaching Desert

The Encroaching Desert is a mystery to all the people of the Wyrld, human or not, Darisian or not. This large desert expands up to a mile each year, slowly swallowing the lands around it. Already Tisbah, the capital of Elloria, lies on the edges of the desert, when once it rested in grassy savannah.

Most of this desert is a sandy waste, although the few journies towards its heart have revealed areas that are more rocky as one travels inward. The entire desert is prone to sudden and powerful winds, making sandstorms the most deadly force in the desert.

Because of the unfriendly nature and lack of oasis in the Encroaching desert, no human tribes have made it their home. There are denizens of the desert, but of a nature far different from those in the lands around it. Genie inhabit this sandy wastes. These elemental spirit creatures are very powerful, and some are even worshipped in Elloria. Though the genie are rare, and interact with mortals even more rarely, some few persons in Elloria have managed to secure such a being as a patron, and these persons are powerful and deserving respect without exception.
