Bursting up out of the plains of southern Shurrah, the mighty peak of Zaymount is a landmark visible from as far as Coer-maen in the west and Pelosia to the east. The mountain is tall enough to disrupt the winds around it, and a pocket of clouds always surrounds the mount, shielding its summit from view. Depending on the direction of the wind the clouds trail off the mountain, usually towards the south and east. There are a plethora of legends about Zaymount, most of them involving the summit which is far beyond the reach of mortal men. Although there is no one alive who has climbed the mountain and returned to tell of it, or at least no one with proof of such a deed, the clouds which shield Zaymount's highest reaches have been estimated to be as high as three or four miles up into the air. Although the legends are many and varied the most common involve mystical creatures and events at the top of the lone mountain. Dragons, the spirits of the dead, gods, and infinite treasure are all to be found atop the the peak, or so one would think if they believed the tales that are told. In all practicality the mount serves best as a landmark for navigation, making it nearly impossible to get lost in southern Darisia on a clear day.
