Salient Powers

There is no way to truly classify the many abilities and powers that fall within the catchall lable of salient powers. These abilities are usable because of some innate or granted ability, and not because of some skill or talent. The most common of all salient powers is the ability of many species to see in the dark called 'infravision.'

The genies of the Encroaching Desert are rumored to possess a wide variety of these powers, including the ability to grant wishes, should they so desire. Of course the abilities most relevant to the cultured species of the Wyrld are those sometimes granted to the faithful.

The ability to cure the sick, live without food, withstand any pain, call down fire from heaven, or bring the dead back to life fills the myths and legends of the past ages, and most of these powers are not attributed to the abilities of the magus, but to the character of the hero. Such abilities are very rare, but are not unknown, even today.

A Cebretian priest in Coer-maen is reported to have the ability to multiply food and drink, providing sustenance for as many as will eat. Both skeptics and believers have engaged upon pilgrimages to see this miracle worker.

There are also tales of a Vaelshman who can unnerringly point to veins of rich metals after imbibing several strong drinks. Once again, there are more skeptics than believers, but most who have journied north and found this man claim that he can indeed do what he claims.
