The religions of the Wyrld cover a breadth and scope of belief that is impossible to document in its totality. Organized monotheistic and church-centric faiths like the Cebretine Church of Shurrah and the worship of Aos in Thule stand at one extreme. Animism, personal exploratory religions, and "atheistic faiths" sit at the opposite extreme.

Religion is a powerful force in the Wyrld, rooted as it is in people's most central beliefs. It has been the driving force between war and peace, love and hatred, salvation and damnation. Some religions tout magic as central to the Wyrld while others condemn it for a vile misuse of nature's bounty.

The only thing these religions all share in common is the belief that the earth, soil, and flesh which makes up the apparent Wyrld is not all that there is. Since the beginning of time in the Wyrld its inhabitants have known that there is something more.

Historically the largest empires, both past and present, have regulated religious pursuit within their borders in some ways. Some have declared state religions while others have outlawed any spiritual endeavor. Most would say that both extremes stem from the same desire, to further control the populace and to avoid the potentially revolutionary thoughts that come from many sects and systems of belief.

Although most in the Wyrld are not particularly fervent, no matter what their beliefs, all are affected by the social and political ramifications of faith in the Wyrld. It is essential to know what one can to avoid embroiling oneself in troublesome waters.
