3. What is civilization and technology like in the Wyrld?
Civilization varies immensely across the known Wyrld, and likely has even more perturbations outside of this area. Human civilizations vary in magical experience, technological level, culture and form of government, and other species can be even more foreign. This is one of the greatest attractions of the Wyrld. Nearly every kind of culture and interaction is available somewhere, often close by.
Technology in the Wyrld is a mixture of different times from earth, as well as including things never seen here. As a general rule the technological level is similar to europe in the dark ages, with many places having somewhat more advanced metallurgy and smithing skills. The best way to learn about the specifics of an area is to contact the moderator for that section of the Wyrld.

3.1 How much do things vary?
Things vary greatly from place to place. The armies of Shurrah favor long pikes backed up by short swords and wear armor made of metal bands. Estovian knights prefer a cavalry based army when they are outside of their fortifications, and so heavy metal armor is more prominent, backed by lances, swords, maces. These different styles of equipping mean that a Shurran archer is likely to use a shortbow while an Estovian is likely to favor the much slower but more powerful crossbow. As usual, technology grows to suit the specific needs of an area, in this example bandits and other armies in Shurrah, and undead in Estovia.

3.2 Are there any guns?
The only form of gun known in Darisia is the crossbow. These cumbersome and slow weapons launch an quarrel (wooden shaft with metal arrow head) or bolt (pointed metal shaft) with great force and are useful against siege engines and well armored foes and are common only in Pelosia and Estovia. It is rumored that the Eastern empires have a form of crossbow that is light and shoots quickly, but most Darisians do not see the need for such a weapon, pointing to the superiority of traditional bows in those regards.

3.2.1 What about simple gunpowder weapons?
Gun powder is completely unknown in Darisia and the East. Some alchemists, particularly in the East, do make explosive mixtures, but nothing with the control necessary to use in a munitions.

4. What do the moderators do?
Moderators are responsible for the Wyrld that exists outside of your, or another PC's, control. This means that a moderators are in charge of the environment in its totality, including the weather, buildings, landscapes, NPCs as well as moderating the outcome of the actions of PCs.
Moderators have such a vast responsibility in order to allow you, the player, to concentrate on one thing and do it well -- role playing. As a player all you have to worry about is your character and your characters thoughts, goals, and actions. This is the ultimate freedom, and what makes this form of gaming the most natural role playing experience.

4.1 How does the moderator decide what happens?
All of the moderators in Wyrldscape are experienced role players themselves. A mixture of common sense, real world knowledge, and past role playing experience allow moderators to make wise and fair decisions.
Moderators keep several things in mind when making decisions: enjoyment, fairness, and reasonableness. This means their main goal is to make sure that the players enjoy events, without having to sacrifice fair play or the self-consistency of the game.

4.1.1 How do I know the moderator isn't cheating?
Almost by definition, a moderator can't cheat. What they can do is be unfair or spoil a player's fun or enthusiasm. This is a grievious mistake, and no moderator will take this lightly. If you feel that you are being mistreated by a moderator the best way to handle it is to tell them. If this does not solve the problem then you should contact one of the senior game masters about the issue. While problems of this sort are expected to be rare, they will be handled with all seriousness and fast attention.

4.2 What is autoing/bunnying/god PCing?
Autoing, bunnying, and god PCing all describe the same thing, when a player controls something aside from his character and the things that their character has direct control over. A player may swing a sword in their character's hand, but they may not describe if it hits, what the effects of the blow are, etc. Describing the weather or the landscape around is another common mistake.
Unless autoing becomes a habit, or comes from an experienced player moderators will give a gentle warning and work past it. In more severe cases in character penalties may be assessed.

4.2.1 When can I control NPCs?
Unless you are specifically told you may control an NPC you may not do so. The bottom line is that a player should expect to never control a character besides their PC.
4.2.2 When can I describe things around me?
Players are occasionally given freedom to describe the environment around them in special cases, such as inside their home, or in other areas they have great control over. Unless you are specifically told that you may do so you should not assume this ability. In general your character is the limit of your control.

4.3 How do I become a moderator?
Moderators are chosen by current moderators and Wyrldscape staff. In general, when a need is seen for a new moderator a few select persons known to the current moderators will be asked to submit an application. Only the finest role players who have shown an ability to enhance the game with their play will be asked.
The staff will then decide from among those nominated who choose to submit an application to fill the available spots. If you aspire to become a moderator all you need do is to role play to the best of your ability and show that you've got what it takes.
