Rules |
Though everyone would love to see the perfect game, a ruleless Utopia of perfect free form gaming, this sort of game cannot exist in a setting with more than a handful of players and writers. With this in mind, a bare minimum of regulations are introduced to create a fair and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone.
Much as in life, you may only control one thing in the Wyrld, and that is yourself, or more accurately, your character. The Game Masters and Game Moderators (collectively called GMs) are responsible for creating and detailing the environment about you. This includes inanimate objects, other people, and monsters as well as the outcome and success of all actions attempted by you, the player.
Posting the success of your own action or affecting the environment outside the ability of you character to do so is usually referred to as "autoing" or "god PCing," though other terms exist. Though it may take a bit of getting used to at first, this method of interaction allows you, the player, to concentrate on role playing instead of the details of the game and creates the best ambience in which to play.
Because it is difficult for GMs to keep track of every detail of every character the responsibility to do so falls upon each player for their own character. Though GMs will keep track of important details such as ability at various skills, titles, magic items and other game affecting things, the player is called upon to know more mundane details such as how many daggers you have, where you store them, and just how many Ellorian Mallus are in that pouch in the back of your belt.
React in character to all situations, never looking for advantage or dominance with the eye of a player. Rather, make every post from the perspective of you character, a thinking being in a Wyrld more vibrant and real that our own.
Approach the Wyrld with the interest of making it fun for everyone, yourself included, and role play with abandon. Dedication and skill do not go unnoticed by the Game Masters, whom were once players themselves.
With these few rules in mind you are ready to face the Wyrld. Stand fast, for a new life awaits you.
